Online-Groups
On the internet you can learn about what rare or interesting birds are being seen currently in Ventura County. This is done by going to a group on the Yahoo! web site:
Ventura County Birding at Yahoo! Groups
You just need to register with Yahoo! and join the group. It's free and a good place to find out what's happening in the county. People post their sightings, ask questions and narrate their bird trips there. There is also a file section with bird photos.
There is also a Yahoo! Group for Southern California Rare Bird Alerts. It is designed to make alerts available to people with wireless internet access in the field, but, works for those of us who are at home too.

Reporting Rare
Birds
Many birders want to report rare birds
but are unsure what birds to report. Adam Searcy, David Vander Pluym and
Oscar Johnson have created a web page to specifically tell you what birds to
report to Oscar. Oscar is the North American Birds recorder for rarities
in Ventura County. You can view the list of rarities to report by clicking
on this link: Ventura County Reporting List. There is also a
page associated with this that covers Gull ID and photos of other
rarities. Click on this link: Rare and other Bird
ID.
